Thank you. Peace out, Doc HOW CAN YOU SAY 'NO' WHEN YOU ARE THE DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD BEING FREE? TRAUMA, PUPPY DOGS AND HOPE? I was bored so I found myself swiping through my Instagram feed when I saw this lady run haphazardly into a six-lane highway. She was frantic, waving her arms up and down and then she started pointing at this little animal that was stuck in the middle of the road. It was a cute little cat and she literally defied death to rescue it. I then saw another feed where a lady was driving down a rural road and two small puppies ran towards her vehicle. She stopped and picked them up and quickly called her friends and they found a vet who would help and they de-ticked the dogs and found a temporary place for them to live as she shared the video of them playing and being safe. Both stories were followed with the pitch line of "you can make a difference" and people pulled out their wallets and donated. Being a pet owner of three dogs and a lizard, I am glad that people are helping BUT what I don't understand is what people are NOT doing when it comes to other human beings. According to the United Nations, one in 113 are in danger of being trafficked at any moment and most people just go about their life not wanting to get involved. Close to 50 million people are being trafficked around the world and every State in the United States has had reported cases of human trafficking and most cities. YET…so many want to turn the other cheek and ignore or worse yet take a few people that they have helped and then advertise them as success stories for their organizations so that they can raise money off of them. In other words, they sell them as well. Why can't we all pause and decide that a human being is incredibly valued and that we should do all that we can to make a difference. Most individuals are trafficked for sex while still living at home. The average age is 11 to 14 and the younger you are the more you are worth to a trafficker. Babies are sold for high dollars and while all this is going on all around us…we are silent, or afraid, we blame a political group, or we are busy doing something else… At Bikers Against Trafficking, we simply try to be the hands and feet of God. We don't want to simply talk about helping others… we want to roll up our sleeves and get involved. There was a book written for pastors years ago that was titled, "They Smell Like Sheep." It was a book about how being a pastor changes you but if you don't get involved in the life of the so called "sheep," then you are not really doing what God called you to do. It is convenient to talk about problems, applaud others who do things, give a dollar here or there…but it is hard to sacrifice and make a difference. YET…it is what God has called us to do. All of us. Even you. Come join with us as we seek to break the chains of human sexual trafficking in the United States. Founded by "Doc" Nave and Diena Cannavino, BAT is a non-profit that educates, empowers, counsels and mobilizes members of the motorcycle community to make a difference in this age old war.
