WheelsOfGrace.com | Volume 13 Issue 6 | 11 My wife, Brenda and I have been blessed to have been married almost 48 years in 2022. I was raised in the Bible belt around church and occasionally attended Church, knew the Gospel but was never "saved". Brenda was saved at age of 14 but later in her teenage years moved away from Jesus. We always said a blessing before we ate because that is how we were raised. On Sunday, August 28, 1983, we prayed together for the first time for the Lord to cure my cocaine addiction as I was in real trouble. On Wednesday evening August 31, 1983, our front door was kicked in by a variety of local and state law enforcement agencies with guns drawn. While my drug addiction was immediately cured, I was in possession of cocaine and had to deal with the legal issues. I was mad with God for many years as I was from a good family and involved in the community in civic clubs, little league, and a young professional with a promising career. I really wanted God to just hit the easy button and make it go away. In 2002 it became clear to me that any other way and I would have not remained clean and would have relapsed into addiction. Brenda convinced me to begin attending church with her and people she worked with and on December 21, 2002, I accepted Christ in our home with our pastor present. Life since then has been a whirlwind in every manner. Three years later we were called into motorcycle ministry with CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association) while visiting their booth at the Myrtle Beach rally. CMA taught us about putting others first with real service and ministry in the biker community. From there, we moved from our comfortable Baptist church to attend the new biker church. In a short time, I became the missions' director and was ordained as a Southern Baptist pastor in 2013. We continued to grow in faith, knowledge, and ministry to the biker community. Our biker church was a fair distance from our home and from Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina. We answered the call in November 2018 to start the ball rolling to give birth to Capital City Biker Church. We do not belong to any denomination and tithe our money back into the local biker community. We started with four families meeting in our living room and on June 30, 2019, we held our first in person service in the McCullers Ruritan Club. A building I first entered as a 9-year-old cub scout, played and coached their little league team. I was VP of the club when I was arrested. We continue to meet in the Ruritan Club which has been a tremendous blessing to us and the club. As with most COVID has required changes we did not anticipate. We are now on YouTube with recorded messages and Biker Church Biker Church Spotlight Spotlight Capital City Biker ChurCh Capital City Biker ChurCh bible studies. We now livestream our service on Facebook. It has certainly been a learning experience with many bumps in the road. Our many years in biker ministry continues to open doors for us to serve local biker events. We are blessed to pray with many people at events. We see people at church grow in their faith and their relationship with the Lord every week. Many accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior with even more being baptized. While this is not the retirement Brenda and I envisioned back in 2017, it is very clear God's plans are far better and we are enjoying every day. https://capitalcitybikerchurch.com/ By Pastor Floyd Baker WheelsOfGrace.com | Volume 13 Issue 6 | 11
