The Gathering ...is the new name for what we have called NLS and then ILS (national and then international leadership summit) for years. Since both events have never required attendees to be in leadership, or even members for that matter, the new name just made sense to us. Members and interested friends of BSHDFC come for fellowship, encouragement and training for motorcycle ministry. We are well into the planning process for the 2022 event, but don't want to make it official until we have worked out the details and signed contracts. As soon as we have a solid date, it will be announced on our website and throughout social media. Retirement vs Resignation Someone said, "Old bikers never die! They just smell that way." Retirement from BSHDFC is explained in detail in our bylaws, allowing a member to "retire" when if they are unable to ride due to age, illness or permanent injury. In the case of retirement a member will no longer be able to ride, vote or hold office, but will retain the "cut" or vest and will not be required to pay monthly dues. They may and are encouraged to become RED Sheep (retired and extremely dangerous), coming to ride, events and meetings in a car. Full membership may be restored should a retired member recover from their inability ride. In either case, they remain highly appreciated and respected members of BSHDFC. Resignation is when a member no longer wishes to participate in the ministry for any number of reasons other than age, illness or injury. Such a person is required to return all patches to the corporate office and cease to represent the ministry, but may visit events should they choose to do so. David Mann Chopper Fest Sunday, December 12 th , Southern California will once again celebrate artist David Mann with the usual rock'n roll bands, vendors and gorgeous motorcycles. BSHDFC will be at the fairgrounds with a 10x20 booth to greet those attendees. This event is being hosted by Ventura Black Sheep, president Erik Roberts. BSHDFC Board Retreat It's tough for a corporate board of seven from multiple states and time zones to plan and lead an international meeting once a month for an hour on ZOOM. Sometimes, you just have to come together and look one another in the eye! For the last several years our board members have come together for a weekend to pray, plan and discuss the future of BSHDFC. Pray for your board as they meet in San Diego on January 14- 16. Advertise Your Regional Events It's impossible to include all of our monthly breakfasts and events, but if your BSHDFC chapter has a major regional event, let us know right away so that we might include it here on Sheep's Shorts. Remember to include: When What Where Who and Why. The Big Move In eight months our ministry will be going through some significant changes. Marty Edwards will be retiring as our international president, moving to a non-board member, part- time support position for our new international president Lazaro Alba. Furthermore, our Murrieta, CA headquarters will be closed and a new location and facility will be established in or near Hesperia, CA. Prayer Will Make The Difference Ten years ago a group of our members began to come together for a weekly prayer meeting at BSHDFC headquarters. That group continues today on Tuesday mornings at 10am where 6-10 faithful warrior gather to pray over 3-4 pages of requests from our members. I f there is anything you need prayer for, call our office at (951) 677-1407. The group prays for everything from Willie G. to friends and members of Black Sheep with cancer. If you have a major event in your chapter, let the team pray for your success and effectiveness. We are also excited to announce two more opportunities for the Black Sheep to pray! Join our chaplains Tom and Dee Sanchez online every Thursday night (call 757-333-2463 for details) or join our Spanish prayer team the first Monday evening of every month (call 305-562-8628) Your prayers at home along with these organized prayer groups will make the difference between what WE can do and GOD can do for and through this ministry.
