Page 6 | Abby's Magazine | Things To Remember When You Detox One of the main reasons to detox your body is to get rid of any inflamma on that is affec ng your health and healing. Inflamma on in the body is the number one cause of sickness and disease. Inflamma on at the cellular level needs to always be addressed first. When Inflamma on affects the cellular membrane, this causes the cell to get sick and leads to very serious problems. When this occurs, nutrients do not enter the cell at all and waste cannot leave the cell. The following foods have been found to increase the body's inflammatory responses: White sugar, white flour, white rice, white salt, white pasta, soy, nightshade vegetables, eggplant, potatoes, pepper, toma llo's, tamarios, pepino's, pimentos, paprika, cayenne, dairy, wheat, processed foods, alcohol, coffee, sodas, tea, fruit juice concentrates, milk chocolate, commercial eggs, margarine, vegetable oil, ar ficial sweeteners, HFCS (high fructose corn syrup), trans fat, ar ficial flavors, commercial chewing gum, commercial vitamins/ supplements (contain dyes and chemicals.) By elimina ng these items from your diet you will see a big change in your body with inflamma on. In addi on to cleaning supplies used in your bathroom, kitchen, living, family, bedrooms, laundry detergents, air fresheners etc, all have a poten al inflammatory toxic base. Lawn/yard supplies: may contain harsh chemicals that you can inhale through your nostrils and topically through the skin. What to include in your diet: 1) Organic if possible. 2) Beef, buffalo, ostrich, chicken, turkey, duck, wild caught seafood. 3) Organic/cage free eggs/organic cream/tofu, tempeh. 4) Vegetables- onions, leeks, dark green leafy, sprouts. 5) Fruits-non-citrus (lemons help neutralize), cantaloupe, apples, pears, kiwi, blueberries, raspberries, mixed berries, avocadoes. 6) Gluten free/ Dairy free foods. 7) Grains-barley, millet, steel cut oatmeal, amaranth, buckwheat, mon na (indian rice grass), quinoa, teff, sorghum, wild brown rice. 8) In small amounts un-heated honey, agave nectar, black strap molasses, maple syrup, xylitol, stevia. 9) Clean water (not tap) slowly build up to 6oz.-8oz glasses per day for filtra on/detoxifica on of the kidneys. 10) Herbal teas- green, black, 100% white, oolong, rooibos, hibiscus, peppermint, ginger, chamomile, etc.
