8 | WheelsOfGrace.com | Issue 52 Steve McQueen's Inspired 1930s Indian Scout VERY COOL Story of our build: Our build was inspired by the History of Indian Motorcycles and their winning heritage. Our design was inspired by the way these bikes looked and rode like, in the 1930's. This specific custom scout build, was built from the inspiration of a Steve McQueen 1934 Sport Scout that sold at auction for over $120k. A 1934 Indian 750cc Sport Scout once owned by Hollywood star and motorcycle fanatic Steve McQueen has sold at auction for £59,740 ($127,000). 1. Front fender: custom made, fabricated using an Indian Dark Horse front fender. 6 hours of metal work on front fender. 2. Fender struts: custom made, fabricated in house, hand made. 3. Front forks: modified, tabs welded on for fender struts, re-powder coated. 4. Handle bars: custom made, fabricated in house. 5. Seat: modified Indian accessories seat to be a true Springer seat. 6. Rear fender: modified stock scout rear fender, trimmed 2 inches off the sides, tail light hole filled. 8 hrs of metal work on rear fender alone. 7. Wheels: Spoke wheels from Indian accessories catalog. 8. Tires: stock tires. 9. Chrome engine parts powder coated black. 10. Front pulley cover: modified, design Indian Motorcycle Chandler. 11. Horn: relocated, and replaced with a 4" old school look to replicate period correct horn. 12. Exhaust: stock headers, modified, reshaped, and turned into true dual system, with crossover eliminated, exhaust ceramic coated and wrapped, aftermarket mufflers modified and ceramic coated. 13. Taillight: aftermarket. 14. Paint: Indian Motorcycle cream paint code custom mix, with hand pin-striped lines, airbrushed Indian Motorcycle head. Paint by H13 KUSTOMS, Phoenix, AZ. Design INDIAN Motorcycle CHANDLER. 15. Suspension: rigid mounts, custom made, Spring seat suspension. 16. Swing arm: Modified, rear fender strut tabs welded and re powder coated. 17. Forward controls: modified rear passenger floorboards from chieftain to replace foot pegs. 18. Powder coating: Affordable powder coating, Phoenix, AZ.
