THE DATA CENTER JOURNAL | 3 As companies rely more and more on their data centers, disaster recovery (DR) becomes increasingly important. And the specific numbers make little difference for many of them: whether it's $1,000 per hour in losses or $100,000, disruption of service delivery to customers can be devastating. No longer are disasters limited to hurricanes, wildfires, floods and other major events that term brings to mind. Instead, many inconveniences—such as simple power or network outages—are now business catastrophes for the unprepared. BY JEFFREY R. CLARK PhD
