WheelsOfGrace.com | Volume 9 Issue 6 | 13 so wrapped up in our day, our condi on will change. The book of Judges tells of the biggest baddest dude in Israel. His name was Samson and he was a Nazarite which meant he had taken a vow. He couldn't do three things: 1. Touch something dead, 2. Drink alcohol, and 3. Cut his hair. Now Samson was a hero who fought against the Philis nes, which were kind of like a very scary Hollywood movie biker club that would ride into town and kill Israelites and take all their food and possessions. They couldn't do this with Samson though, as right out of a modern day Marvel movie, Samson would single handedly save the day. The problem with Samson was that he never really was aware of his condi on. He didn't think about the fact that God had allowed him to have the great strength he had and he took it for granted. One day he ended up touching a dead lion and on another occasion drank wine, and that meant two parts of his vow had been broken. The Philis nes would do anything to destroy Samson and they found a woman that he was interested in and paid her to find out the source of his great strength. She kept asking him where his strength came from and each me he would lie and the Philis nes would jump him only to find out he s ll had his strength as he had lied. Finally she wore him down and he told her his secret: he can't cut his hair. She waited for him to fall asleep and shaved his head and ed him up. She then called for the Philis nes to come and as they a acked Samson, we are told "he awoke out of his sleep and said 'I will go out as other mes and shake myself free' but he did not know that the Lord had departed from him." Samson's condi on changed because he allowed his rela onship with God to slowly erode away. He finds himself a blind cap ve being used to entertain his enemies. The saddest part is that he didn't realize his condi on (not posi on) with God had changed. He had broken all he once stood for. Now eventually his hair grew back and like a Hollywood script, he gets vengeance on his enemies as he is restored in his condi on with God. How about you? You check your bike before you ride don't you? How is the condi on of your heart? What is the octane of the thoughts you are pu ng in your mind? How is your communica on with God? If you don't know your posi on with God then I would suggest a simple prayer: Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and that you sacrificed yourself for me. I receive you into my heart and give myself to you. That is all that is needed to receive the gi of salva on that Jesus wants you to have. If you said that prayer and meant it, welcome to the family of God. Nothing can ever take away your posi on. Your condi on however will remain strong if you con nue to stay close to God in all situa ons. He is with you wherever you go, just acknowledge Him at all mes. Keep that communica on with Him open, stay aware of your con- di on you never know when that next cage may cut you off.
