16 | WheelsOfGrace.com | Issue 40 PSALM 1 1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. 4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. We were all sitting at the local Harley dealership on a lazy Saturday afternoon chomping down free hotdogs and sodas, when Harry, with his mouth still full of his last bite, began to expound upon the mysteries of the universe. He can tell you everything there is to know about marriage because he's been married four times. And he's pretty good with the world of finance too because he's gone bankrupt…twice! He had not been yackin' long however, before Charlie chimed in with his version of all truth and wisdom. He assured us of its accuracy by reminding us that he heard it all from Ralph in the parts department. Far fetched? Not really! How many of us have drawn our conclusions on life and eternity from something we heard someone say? Equally bad, we heard it on T.V. or the radio or read it in the newspaper. And how many times Pastor Marty Edwards, BSHDFC have you heard someone begin their "truth" with the words, "Well…it just seems to me..?" The Bible tells us however, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." (Proverbs 14:12) Would you allow me to work on your bike based upon "what seems right to me?" or according to "what I've always heard?" I don't think so! God says, "Hey! You can listen to what everybody else is saying today (which will change by this time tomorrow) or you can focus your thoughts on Me and My Word…the Bible; the truth that will never change or pass away. You can follow the chattering of men and you'll end up like dried leaves being blown by the wind, not free, just out of control with no direction. Or, listen to Me and you'll be like a beautiful tree down by the stream; drinking in the truth that, in the end, will set you truly free!" If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 Pastor Marty Edwards BSHDFC May I Tinker With Your Bike? May I Tinker With Your Bike?
