Any reasonable car owner knows regular tune-ups are critical to avoiding unnecessary repairs and breakdowns. In general, a car has minimum core requirements (oil changes, break inspections, timing-belt replacement and so on) that the owner must meet regardless of the make or model to keep it operating in tip-top shape. The same principles apply to data centers; improper or nonexistent maintenance practices will inevitably lead to failure and negatively affect the business. Delaying aged-asset replacement could result in unplanned downtime. THE DATA CENTER JOURNAL | 11 www.datacenterjournal.com
