It is a wonderful time: A chance to celebrate and learn from past experiences and to enjoy the excitement of building on our successes—and to embrace continuous improvement throughout the Club. Thanks go to you, our members, for your contributions in making the WAC the or the WAC, August 1 starts our Club year, meaning that we wrap up last year and transition to the new. We hit the ground running on new financial and performance targets, and we welcome new volunteer leaders and existing mem- premiere club that it is. One of the great traditions and strengths of this Club is our member leader structure. We continue to be blessed with visionary, passionate and committed members who put in countless hours and offer significant insights and guidance. I especially want to thank outgoing Chairman Rob Fleming for his lead- ership atop the Board of Governors during 2011–2012 and for the many years of service that led up to his reign. As a personal aside, I appreciated Rob's counsel as I stepped into the role of Publisher: Michelle Pinson Editor in Chief/Creative Director: Barbara Schmitt Managing Editor: Darrick Meneken Designer: Kelly Wang Designer: Anna De La Paz For advertising information: David Stolber Advertising & Marketing Sales Varsity Communications, Inc. p 206.367.2420, ext. 1204 • f 206.363.9099 david@varsitycommunications.com EXECUTIVE STAFF Chuck Nelson President & Chief Executive Officer cnelson@wac.net Robert Bonina Vice President Food & Beverage rbonina@wac.net Melissa Borders Vice President Club Programs mborders@wac.net President & CEO. I also look forward to working closely with incoming Chair Jeff Atkin. As you'll read in this month's feature story (see page 26), Jeff brings diverse skills and interests to the position, and his business and finance success and knowledge are remarkable. We can all be excited and confident in Jeff and the new member lead- ership team for the upcoming year. It will be a pleasure to work with them. Indeed, we have much to look forward to. We continue to be community partners with the Boeing Classic. This year marks the tournament's eighth anniversary, and the WAC has been there since the start. It is an event and a relationship we can be proud of—for its benefits to the community at large and to WAC members. Remember, admission to see some of the biggest names and best senior golfers in the world is free for WAC members. Simply show your WAC card and you're in. (For more information, see page 22.) We're also excited to again be full participants in all things Seafair, including hosting the Blue Angels. This is a great time of year in Seattle, and the WAC is in the middle of it. I also want to take a moment to congratulate the Spa at the WAC, recently named Spa of the Year by the North American Association of Club Athletic Directors. The Spa is a great example of the excellence we strive for in all areas of the Club and of the range of services and fun that happen right here. (For more on the award, see page 6.) Thumb through these pages, or read the digital version of WAC Magazine online, to catch up on all things WAC. You won't find any shortage to choose from. See you at the Club.
