MEMBERS IN MOTION A CAREER OF PUBLIC SERVICE SALLY JEWELL received a Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service. The WAC member and president and CEO of REI was honored this past June along with William H. Gates Sr., co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars presents the awards to people who dedicate their careers or lives to public service. Started in 1998, the award upholds former president Woodrow Wilson's belief that "there is no higher religion than human service. To work for the common good is the greatest creed. " Other Seattleites to win the award previously include George Russell Jr. of the Russell Family Foundation and telecommunications pioneer Bruce McCaw. "Ms. Jewell's commitment to environmental preservation in Washington communities [is] ensuring a bright future for America," Woodrow Wilson Center Director, President and CEO Jane Harman said. Sally joined the WAC in 1992. 16 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | AUGUST 2012 MAKING WISHES COME TRUE MEGAN COOK, an employee benefits consultant at MCM, was recently named to the Make-A-Wish Alaska & Washington board of trustees.
