"I was really looking for a stellar athletic program and a pool." THE FOOD AND THE WINE And then there's the food. A decade ago, when one of their clients kept raving about the WAC's crab bisque, Anna and Cris decided to give it a try. Soon afterward, they joined. Says Anna: "The crab bisque is why we're members here." Club dining has evolved as much as anything. Bettina Stix will toast to that. The senior manager at Amazon originally joined the WAC for the 6th Floor Pool. Shortly before her arrival, she experienced an accident that mandated physical therapy and careful recovery. "Physical therapy at the WAC is awesome," she says. Since then, she's found a home at the Wine Club. "I was really looking for a stellar athletic program and a pool," says Bettina, an Austrian citizen who worked for Amazon in Germany and France before joining global headquarters in Seattle. She makes the short walk from South Lake Union to the WAC a couple of times each week—she calls it "really super easy"—and attends the regular Winemaker Dinner series. "When I found out about the Wine Club, I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn more about wine and enjoy wine with others," she says. Since then, she has become a member of the Wine Advisory Committee and a Level 1 Bettina Stix enjoys a Winemaker Dinner in late 2011. sommelier. Bettina also attends private Pilates classes at the Club and uses it as a hub for other downtown adventures. "I only realized after I joined that you can do so many things at the WAC," she says.
