BAND" USING a foam roller. Rolling is a preventive warm-up, cool-down and corrective exercise. It's helpful for anyone active who does any form of repetitive movement. Rolling out the iliotibial tract—better known as the I.T. band—before a run, swim, climb, ride or strength workout lengthens and improves soft tissue by breaking up muscle tension and unpleasant knots. 1. Turn on one side. Place the roller underneath your leg. Keep your lower leg straight. Cross your upper leg over and bend that knee. Roll back and forth between the knee and hip. 2. Progression: Stack your legs and keep both straight. Roll back and forth. along with past champions Bernhard Langer, Mark Calcavecchia and Tom Kite.
