LINFIELD CHRISTIAN SCHOOL 39 ABOVE In a 1937 brochure, Culter Academy declared itself as "a Christian school of high scholastic training." RIGHT In 1936, Dr. Mabel Culter, then Dean of Women at the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, saw a need for a school that would integrate the best components of secular education with the historical and spiritual truths of the Christian faith. She began the school in a private home with only a handful of students and taught many of the required subjects herself.
