We make all these plans about riding here and riding there, and begin to think from the first oil change we will make to the new parts we want to add on. But, like a New Year's resolution, most are not kept in spite of our best intentions. Others have the burning desire to tell someone what God did in their life but have not done it yet and are looking forward to it this year. Perhaps a better way to approach the beginning of a new riding season is to have one goal: to ride with God; led by God, and filled with the Holy Spirit (Eph. 5:18). at means keeping short accounts when it comes to falling short of the best we can do, listening for His guidance and appropriating His strength every day and on every ride. It is likely that aer a year logging in miles for God, much more change will have occurred than by trying to keep the most noble of human resolutions. Many can testify to that. If you're a Christian reading this letter, begin the new riding season with the objective to live a Spirit-filled life and ride accordingly – and see what will be accomplished in and through your life in the coming year. One goal achieved by the power of the Spirit would be better than a multitude of unfulfilled good intentions. If you're reading this letter and are not a believer in Christ, ask a Christian biker about "what riding for God is like" or e-mail me directly at: Peter@ WheelsOfGrace.com. As Christians, we are commanded to help others, to love others, and to go the extra mile for others; and I do mean our Christian brothers and sisters as well. Interesting how when we read the first few words of the above sentence "…we are commanded to help others, to love others…" we immediately think of non-Christians. at has been the train of thought since 2002 when we first started promoting Christian Unity. e year was 2002. I was at a outdoors biker church service on an early Sunday morning in South Texas. At the time, I was the editor of Texas Full rottle magazine and people knew me as such. e first edition of Wheels Of Grace was not out yet, but was being worked on. I posted a flier in the motorcycle parking lot displaying 12-15 Christian patches with Psalm 133:1 at the top of the page and a caption at the bottom that read: CHRISTIAN BIKER MAGAZINE, COMING SOON! Minutes later, I was being questioned by a brother: "Why is 'our' patch on the flier and what is this you're posting?" Look…I get it! I get the protocol, the liability and all else. What that brother didn't know was that I had received permission from the No. 1 guy in their organization to display their patch on that page. And as the fella went on and on… I just kept looking at him and thinking: "What if one guy, one gal, sees this flier and wonders: 'Christian Bikers United…W-H-A-T?' Something that many have been wondering for years and others still wonder about today." at flier eventually became the inside back cover to the magazine and the patches went from 15 in 2003 to 129 in 2011. You will see similar examples posted on social media from different groups once in a while. Years later, having communicated through e-mail, mail, telephone and in person with thousands, I can say these two important facts: "If you don't love your brother – and I don't only mean the one in your club or ministry – or you don't have a burning desire to use the tools and talents God gave you to tell another about Him, the patch on a vest is just a decoration." is riding season, as you pray for protection, also pray for guidance. Pray for more love towards others that read the same book you do and worship the same God you do. Because while you're praying, fellowshipping, breaking bread or riding with another, there is someone that is searching for the Truth watching you.
