As many of you know, one of the greatest benefits to being an ISTA member is the ability to utilize the ISTA ® Transit Tested Certification Mark. The ISTA ® Transit Tested Certification Mark on a package is visible proof that the packaged-product has passed a valid ISTA pre-shipment test. It gives the highest level of credibility to the design, test and packaged-product performance verification process. Although only ISTA Shipper members, under a signed Manufacturers License, are allowed to utilize the Transit Tested Certification Mark on their packaging, there are still advantages of submitting a test report to ISTA Headquarters. We not only review test reports for completeness and accuracy, but we retain it and the resultant Certification information on file for a minimum of 5 years for Shipper members. This third-party oversight and records-retention provides easy access to your companies testing in the event of subsequent disputes or negotiations. This central repository of testing history proves to be valuable for those companies who are conducting testing from multiple locations and/or departments. Additionally, in the event of an employee change, you can be assured that the historical information will not be lost. See an overview of the ISTA Test Report Process on the next page. For those who are conducting the testing, submission of reports provides your customer maximum credibility of results. The increased visibility of testing conducted would also enable ISTA to monitor testing trends and share that information with the membership. This information could provide opportunity areas for testing laboratories as well as procedure enhancement areas for ISTA. Test reports can be submitted to ISTA either via the ista@ista.org email or for larger files, via our dropbox at https://www.hightail.com/u/ISTA. 16 ista views • October 2015 • www.ista.org ISTA Technical Update Q: A: Why should I consider submitting a test report to ISTA for review? Eric Hiser ISTA Vice President - Technical Updated Test Report Templates are Now Available Due to recent changes to the ISTA 1-Series Procedures, the report forms have been updated to include a place to document the laboratories ambient temperature and relative humidity as well as the conditioning duration. All testing report templates have been updated to include a place for pictures. While at this point, pictures are not required for report submission to ISTA, it is highly encouraged. The inclusion of pictures in a test report not only enables ISTA but also any subsequent person reviewing the report, a greater understanding of the testing sequences the packaged-product encountered, packaging materials utilized, the packaging configuration, as well as the pre & post product and packaging condition. Accessing ISTA Test Report Templates: The updated report templates can be accessed through the Member Center on ISTA.org – http://www.ista.org/members/index.php For more information about changes to ISTA Procedures and/or Projects, please check the ISTA.org website – http://www.ista.org/pages/procedures/ procedure-changes.php
