For God
And Country
M
y time in the Marine Corps was fullling even
though it had its ups and downs. One of the down
times was in 1982 when I was in my primary Military Oc-
cupational School (MOS). My wife, my daughter and I had
no where to live, so we lived in our car for a short period
until I could save enough money for rent; which I did. e
travel from CA to NC used all the money we had until I was
reimbursed for the trip. I enjoyed Camp Lejeune so much
that I reenlisted for another 6 years. I spent a lot of time in
the Far East: Japan, South Korea, Philippines and Okinawa.
e Post Exchanges overseas sold Harley-Davidsons that
you could buy and pick up in the USA and the prices were
thousands of dollars less than the US prices. I had always
wanted a Harley since I was a kid; in my younger years my
bikes were sport bikes and I had quite a few of them. It
wasn't until aer I retired from the USMC that I bought
my rst Harley. Unfortunately, my wife of 24 years passed
in 2004 and I used the life insurance money to purchase
my Heritage Classic Soail. My wife had always wanted
an H-D instead of foreign and this was her gi to me. e
