Abby's Magazine - May/June 2015 | Page 5 ASK Abby ASK Abby Abby offers Free Consultations - Please call (813) 996-6999 Monday - Friday from 10 am - Noon to make your appointment Do you have a question for Abby? Send your inquires to: AbbysHealthAndNutrition@yahoo.com side of normal. You may want to read about Nattokinase and discuss its use with your doctor to lower elevated fibrinogen. Sincerely, Abby My 75-year-old husband is bothered nightly with red, itching and burning feet. Also, he has restless legs. What could be causing this problem? What can be done? Marianne Dear Marianne, The fact that this only occurs at night makes me think he may have venous insufficiency – pooling of blood in his feet and ankles during the day due to poor venous return. A simple test to determine if venous insufficiency is the cause of his problem would be for your husband to lie down with his feet elevated several times a day. If this alleviates the problem, he has vein issues. He should continue to elevate his feet several times a day and supplement with "Vein Lite" tea or capsules, which over time will strengthen his veins and reduce any tendency for blood clot formation. Restless legs are often due to a deficiency of magnesium and potassium. I have helped many, many of my clients with magnesium/potassium asporotate. Sincerely, Abby I recently underwent an operation for a hernia. As a result of the surgery, my intestine became infected and another surgery had to be done in which four feet of my intestines had to be removed. After this, my digestion has become weak and I suffer from frequent attacks of diarrhea. What can you suggest for this condition? Gary Dear Gary, You may want to explore the gastrointestinal program I have used successfully with many clients. It is My daughter gets very bad menstrual cramps. Would you please advise if you know of a proven protocol for relief? Thank you so very much (and she thanks you)! Janice Dear Janice, Yes, the number one proven product is "Myomin". Specifically, it will help balance her hormones and reduce "estrogen dominance" which may be causing her PMS symptoms of cramps, etc. Magnesium, an important mineral for relaxing muscles, will help her a great deal. I would also include a multivitamin appropriate for her age and have her blood level of Vitamin D3 checked. Sincerely, Abby We have been drinking fluoridated artesian water for years, ever since it was supposed to help my children with tooth decay. I just recently read of the dangers of fluoride. It sounds like we should stop. Is that true? Thanks. Myrna Dear Myrna, I can't advise you specifically relative to your well water. I can share with you that I advise my clients to avoid fluorine, such as that in toothpaste. Many of my clients will use a reverse filtration system to help lessen fluoride levels for cooking and drinking. My family and my clients actively avoid fluoride. Sincerely, Abby Is there any supplement that can help take the place of "Plavix"? Mario Dear Mario, There is no supplement that I am aware of that has been tested compared to Plavix. So, the answer is no, there is not a replacement. However, you may want to ask your doctor about your fibrinogen level to see if it is elevated or on the high described in the Abby's Mag issue featuring Micro Flora. It includes a diet to remove food triggers, major probiotic supplements, "Digestron" as well as an anti-inflammatory powder to assist in repairing GI damage and reducing inflammation. You may contact me for more specifics. Sincerely, Abby I have jock itch. What is the best approach? Ken Dear Ken, Tackling this from a systemic approach works best! Jock itch is a fungus related to candida, which grows in all humans. A three-pronged candida program will lower candida both internally and externally. Step #1 is dietary restriction to remove slowly all foods that feed this fungal parasite, including all sugars, fruits and fruit juices, tomatoes, vinegars, dairy, peanuts, pistachios, Baker's yeast, simple carbs, and alcohol. These foods are removed over a month period in order to avoid "die-off ". The diet is strictly adhered to for five to six weeks. Step #2 Ruling out Irritable Bowel Syndrome, bentonite can be used to gently remove fungus growing on your intestinal lining. Step #3 Anti-fungals, such as "Candidase" and "Candida" by Aqua Flora, will kill off many strains of your candida. Probiotics are an essential part of this program and should be taken throughout the program. Using an anti-fungal soap, switching to cotton boxers, and double washing underwear will help to eliminate fungal contamination. Sincerely, Abby
