FEMINIST MAJORITY FOUNDATION The Feminist Majority Foundation (FMF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is dedicated to research, public education, communication and action to advance women’s equality, nonviolence, reproductive health and rights, and empowerment of women and girls in all sectors of society. On December 31, 2001, the Feminist Majority Foundation assumed ownership of Liberty Media for Women, LLC, the publisher of Ms. magazine. The combined forces of FMF and Ms. magazine are committed to ensuring that Ms. thrives as the forum for feminist ideas and as a springboard for the development and spread of feminist ideas and action. But for you to stand on this floor and suggest…that somehow this is a procedure that is either welcomed or done cavalierly or done without any thought is preposterous.” —REP. JACKIE SPEIER (D-Calif.) on a Republican proposal to defund Planned Parenthood “More women [need] to become producers and hire diverse women of various ages. That is why I feel obligated to stay in the business and try hard to get to a place where I can create opportunities for others.” —TINA FEY, in The New Yorker “You’re not a feminist just when you’re doing activism work; you’re a feminist all the time. You’re a feminist when you’re watching a movie, where you decide to go out, the way you make your economic choices. All the smallest details and the biggest details.” —FARAH SALKA, coordinator of Nasawiya, a feminist collective in Lebanon that just celebrated its first anniversary 10 | SPRING 2011 www.feminist.org © 2011 JEN SORENSEN, WWW.SLOWPOKE.COM
