Newsline 14 Plymouth Foam Sculpting Contest This past December, Plymouth Foam instituted the first ever EPS Foam Sculpting Competition. The event took place at the WinterFest in Milwaukee, WI; a seasonal family-friendly festival and carnival. Plymouth Foam organized the event in conjunction with Allan Haas and Don Berg, who have promoted sculpting events for 20 years and recently began using EPS as a medium for indoor events. During a tour of Plymouth Foam's molding facility with CEO Dave Bolland, they were inspired when they saw large billets of EPS foam rolling down the conveyor belt, and realized they would be an interesting artistic medium. This led to the foundation of EPS 3D Art International, the company through which they promote EPS sculpting competitions in tandem with Plymouth Foam. Six professional sculptors submitted entries, which they crafted from 3 ft. by 6 ft. blocks of EPS donated by Plymouth Foam. The artists were instructed to produce sculptures based on a wintertime theme. A check for $1,000 was presented to Scott Andrews, the winner of the competition, for his submission titled "Jack Frost." Many other amateur submissions carved from 14" cube blocks (also provided by Plymouth Foam) were received from high schools and colleges around Milwaukee. The winner from the amateur category was presented a check for $250. Several of the amateur submissions were displayed at the 2013 EPS EXPO in Cincinnati, OH. n EPS-IA Member Companies ACH Foam Technologies ADLAM Films LLC AFM Corporation Airlite Plastics Co./Fox Blocks APTCO, LLC Aqua-Pak Styro Containers Ltd.
