The system offers two operation modes: Comfortable and Dynamic, for a relaxed cruising mode or a more spirited but fully electronically assisted ride. The set speed, the distance to the vehicle in front, and the se ng of the ACC appear on the TFT display. The cruising speed can be selected on a range from 30 to 160 kph (19 to 100 mph), while the safety distance can be adjusted to three stages. The rider can override the ACC by either braking or by accelera ng, but speed must be reset a er braking. Gear shi ing does not interfere with the ACC se ng. The ACC system sends warning signals in case of rapid decrease of the safety distance from the vehicle in front. A car profile in bright red appears on the TFT display and the rider must apply emergency braking, a func on that ACC does not include in order to avoid sudden decelera ons that could surprise the rider. Safe motorcycle riding remains a fine art that demands great concentra on and sharp reac ons. BMW Motorrad's ACC can very posi vely assist but cannot take the place of a competent rider, and has ul mately le the rider to decide their fate—with some important guidance. RIDING A HARLEY MEANS YOU'RE A WHITE RACIST? MAN KILLS MARINE VET, RETIRED LEO FOR SKIN COLOR B Y FAY E H I G B E E Re red LEO Phillip Thiessen, 55, was a US Marine Veteran who loved to ride his Harley. On July 3rd, a man named Daniel Navarro inten onally drove his Dad's truck head on into Thiessen's motorcycle… because he believes anyone who rides a Harley is a "white racist." The Marine veteran is now dead, and Navarro is in jail. "According to a criminal complaint, around 6:45 p.m., inves gators found the vic m deceased in the roadway near a motorcycle, with witnesses trying to render aid. He was not wearing a helmet at the me of the crash. A red 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup was nearby — having crashed into a pole off the roadway. Prosecutors said Navarro, the driver of the pickup, said he was in the westbound lane of Winnebago Drive when he inten onally crashed into the motorcycle head-on. Witnesses said the truck swerved into the westbound lane and struck the motorcycle — with the bike flying into the air. Inves gators said there were no signs the pickup braked before or a er the crash." (Let that sink in!) Why didn't the pickup brake? Because the driver, Daniel Navarro believed that white people ride motorcycles and white people are racists. He is now charged with First Degree Inten onal Homicide and First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety - both are being charged as hate crimes. Navarro made other whacked out statements that included: "thinking about targe ng a white person and killing them with a vehicle earlier that day," and "picked a motorcycle because he wanted the person to die." He told police that he definitely knew what he did was wrong, which is an indicator that he may not be able to claim insanity in spite of some of his weird statements. His excuse stemmed from how "other white people" had treated him in his life, which is no excuse whatsoever. The officer who interviewed him said that he has a "thousand yard stare." From Phillip's obituary: Phillip joined the US Marine Corps in February of 1984, and served for four years. He then was a Police Officer with the City of Fairfax, VA for 26 years. A er re ring from the City of Fairfax Police Department, Phillip was a Special Agent with the WI Department of Jus ce for almost 2 years before officially re ring in Fond du Lac, WI. We also know that there is more news out on possible raised concerns about Mr. Navarro's mental health however there is not enough informa on and at this me, we choose not to publish it. 2 NYC 1% CLUB MEMBERS ARRESTED IN HIT THAT KILLED RIVAL BIKER CLUB LEADER B Y R O B E R T G E A R T Y New York City detectives say two 1% Club Members have been charged with murder in the death of the leader of another motor- cycle Club. The murder of the other 1% Motorcycle Club's leader took place in the Bronx in broad daylight on May 2nd. Surveillance video released by NYPD Chief of Detec ves show two masked gunmen emerging from an SUV and poin ng guns at the Club's leader as the gunmen chased him down the street. An NYPD spokesman said that the Club leader died of gunshot wounds to the neck, head and shoulder. The two gunmen were charged in the murder. A third man, was also charged with taking part in the hit. The New York Post iden fied the third man as a reputed member of another Bronx Biker Club. Officials said the murder was retribu on for the leader's Club shoo ng up a Bronx building that the gunmen's Club moved to last year a er selling their old Manha an site for $8 million, The New York Times reported.
