It aligns with our belief that the health of our land is directly connected to the health of our plants and the health of our customers. Biodynamic farming is not new, it was developed back in the 1920's by an Austrian Philosopher under the name of Rudolph Steiner. Steiner was a visionary environmentalist and the founder of the Waldorf Schools. Even back then he realized that big AGG was depleting soil fertility and undermining diversity. Biodynamic is more than just farming it's a belief system. A way of seeing and understanding the natural world. Which is why we refer to ourselves as Stuarts of the land. Balancing science and intuition. Biodynamics is the next step beyond organics. It calls for a combination of rigorous farming regulations. No pesticides or chemicals allowed and a more holistic/ spiritual approach. Naturally occurring cycles like moon phases dictate wind to nurture the soil, plant, and harvest. And special preparations of herb, minerals, and composted manure are used to improve soil fertility. There is nothing obscure or mystical about biodynamics. It is really just a system of age-old wisdom. The moons gravitational pull exerts massive forces on our oceans, creating tides. So, it's easy to see how plants, which in themselves are mostly water are greatly affected too. Demeter certification is the most highly rated certification program. It is the oldest ecological certification organization in the world. Biodynamic farming is also a form of regenerative agriculture. It leaves the land better than it was found by improving soil fertility and farm vitality. Our rich giving soil is part of the solution to global warming. Biodynamic Farming We are sequestering carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and back into the soil where it belongs and is needed. For a farm to be biodynamic it must also be certified by Demeter. Demeter certification is the most highly rated certification program. In fact, it is the oldest ecological certification organization in the world and operates in over 50 countries. In the United States only a handful of farms have earned the Demeter certified biodynamic seal. We are proud to be the only US herbal supplement company operating with these high standards. Both farming and processing are addressed by Demeter standards by exceeding standards to the shelf. We are farming the way nature intended.
