Wetting His feet with her tears, wiping His feet with her hair and kissing His feet, then pouring perfume on His feet. In verse 39 Simon says, "If this Man were a prophet He would know who and what sort of woman this is who is touching Him, that she is a (notorious) sinner (an outcast, devoted to sin)," (Amplified Bible). Jesus then tells Simon a parable in verse 44: "Then turning toward the woman, He said to Simon, 'Do you see this woman?" (Amplified Bible). As I ponder the question, "Do you see this woman?" Do you see this woman? By Courtney Cromwell I am sure Simon thought he had that woman all figured out. But I think that Jesus was asking Simon if he sees past the outside. If he sees her heart, her brokenness, and her love for Jesus. I know that there are people who think they have me figured out without even bothering to get to know me. I believe that Jesus asks them, "Do you see this woman? Do you see her heart and her love for Me?" I believe Jesus asks us, "Do you see this woman? Do you see this man? Do you see this girl? Do you see this boy?" Jesus wants us to see past the outside. He wants us to see the heart of people. He wants us to see people the way He sees them. We need to pray for eyes to see other people the way the Lord sees them.
