www.AbbysHealthFood.com - Issue 39 | Page 3 Turmeric is one of the hottest herbs right now and for good reason! Hailing from India, this golden spice has been prized for thousands of years for its incredible array of culinary and health uses. And while turmeric is renowned for its peppery, warm flavor and the vibrant orange color it lends to curry dishes, the past few years have witnessed an explosion of research supporting its powerful health benefits. Most of these benefits are attributed to a small compound in turmeric called curcumin. Confused about curcumin? Curcuminoids are the compounds that give turmeric its distinctive golden color. Turmeric has three major curcuminoids, but the one that yields the greatest biological benefit is curcumin. In fact, some studies have demonstrated that the other two curcuminoids have no activity. Curcumin, the ultimate pleiotropic As the ultimate pleiotropic (producing multiple effects), curcumin works at multiple sites in the body. Numerous double-blind clinical trials have confirmed curcumin's many benefits including: • Supporting the body's natural inflammatory response • Supporting liver health • Promoting muscle and joint health and function • Promoting heart and vascular health • Helping promote memory • Exerting powerful antioxidant activity It's not how much you take, it's how much you absorb! Over the past two decades, more than 5,000 research investigations have involved curcumin, escalating it to one of the most researched plant compounds. As research progressed from cellular and animal studies to human clinical trials, scientists were disappointed by curcumin's low absorption in humans. Because of its poor bioavailability, the positive results produced in preclinical trials were often not translating to humans, even when large quantities of curcumin were given. This prompted researchers and manufacturers to search for ways to enhance curcumin's absorption and reap the incredible health benefits offered by this compound. The result? Based on very detailed absorption studies, cumulative data now shows that the #1 absorbed form of curcumin is Theracurmin ® from Natural Factors! ‡ Theracurmin: clinically proven most bioavailable curcumin ‡ Theracurmin is produced using advanced techniques to reduce the particle size of the standardized curcumin, thereby dramatically increasing its solubility and absorption. Regular curcumin, on the other hand, clumps together to form large particles that render it poorly absorbed. The average particle size of curcumin in Theracurmin is more than 100 times smaller than regular curcumin powder. Additionally, Theracurmin is clinically tested so you know it works. Only Theracurmin has 19 double-blind clinical studies. Curcumin's health potential is titanic; however, it's not how much you take, it's how much you absorb that matters. Because Theracurmin is the #1 absorbed form of curcumin ‡ , all the benefits associated with curcumin can be fully realized! ‡ Scientific scrutiny revealed that Theracurmin was more bioavailable on a milligram-to-milligram basis than other leading ◊ enhanced and regular forms of curcumin. ◊ As measured by SPINS 2014 data.
