Fruits and vegetables are high in necessary vita- mins, minerals, electrolytes, antioxidants, and necessary dietary fiber. Although integrating fruits and vegetables is great for your health, have you ever paid attention to where your produce is coming from? your produce is coming from? Buying local has been shown to help strengthen the resi- dent economy, reduce environmental impact, increase com- munity bond, and gives you a better connection to the food you are purchasing. Attending a farmer's markets is a de- pendable way to access locally grown items. There are multiple farmer's markets throughout the week that sell fresh produce, sourced from farmer's right here in the valley. Often this produce is not only more advantageously priced, but is fresher than what is found in the grocery store. Attending a farmer's market is also great opportunity to get out into the community and experience all the market's advantages. These markets not only host vendors with fruits and vegetables, but include business touting flowers, woodworking, jewelry, local honey, fresh eggs, prepared foods and creative crafts (among other things). Farmer's markets are a great way to support the community you live in, but can also ensure you are getting the freshest produce for your healthy lifestyle.
