30 | WheelsOfGrace.com | Issue 44 History of the Part 4 3-PC PATCH 3-PC PATCH Disclaimer: This series of articles have been the most popular series in demand ahead of the series Christians and Tattoos. The articles are published to inform the motorcycle rider of a world within the world of motorcycling. Motorcycle Clubs have been around for over 60 years. Although some may not agree with some of the articles we publish, these articles were written by and from the perspective of Motorcycle Club members. We would like to hear your feedback. We did not write the articles, we did not make the rules nor support or not support any of the written. These articles are for "educational purposes". If you are going to wear a biker patch, it pays to know something about biker patch rules and e que e. The reason is simple: your ac ons will be reflected on all bikers in the area. This is true whether you are an Independent / Lone Wolf or belong to an MC (motorcycle club), RC (riding club) or MM (motorcycle ministry). Read and Follow the Rules: All biker clubs and/ or motorcycle ministries have rules about how to wear the patch. You can avoid a lot of trouble by just following the rules. If there is something you do not understand, clarify it with the club or ministry. Note: most clubs allow you to wear memorial patches anywhere on the vest. Patches and Colors: Among tradi onal MCs, and some serious M/M the patch is considered different from colors. In their view, the patches are the property of riding clubs and are bought (not earned). It is the colors that belong to the motorcycle club; the colors must be earned. One of the most important biker patch rules to remember is that among MCs, the colors symbolize commitment. Keep this in mind when wearing a patch. Patches can mean various things to riding clubs and riders as well. 1 and 2 Piece Patches: The 1-piece patch usually represents a riding club, family club or social motorcycle club. Most 1-piece patches are approved. The excep ons are when the logos are copied somewhere else or if the design is a lot like the local MC. The 2-piece patch can mean different things. To be safe, make sure the designs do not infringe on others' patches. 3 Piece Patches: This patch can mean the rider is part of an outlaw club or a tradi onal motorcycle club. In a three-piece patch, the top rocker must bear the club name. The center has the club patch and the bo om the territory. Some mes the bo om rocker has a saying or mo o included. New MCs should not wear the three-piece patch. If your club wants to wear this patch, you should seek approval from the exis ng established MCs in your area. What are the rules of wearing biker patches? By Jess Woof, and Peter Kaye Rockers: The rockers are the curved patches at the bo om and top. Riding clubs cannot wear them unless approved by the dominant riding club in the area. Social MCs and riding clubs should not claim territory by using the rockers. Do not sew the state name onto your vest or jacket without club approval. These are the biker patch rules that new riders, clubs or ministries should be aware of. There are of course, other s pula ons and regula ons unique to an area. Get in touch with the local groups in your loca on just to be safe. Here are some words from an MC member: "If you've managed to earn the right to wear a 3 piece and someone tries to take it from you, you fight like hell to try keeping it. When I was the Na onal Warlord for an unapproved MC it took 15 guys from an approved club almost a half hour to finally manage to take mine and get away with it because when they first managed to get it off me earlier in the fight I took it back." It shows you what MCs think about the patch and what how much means. There are many club specific rules for wearing various patches, actually too many for anyone to honestly fully know or explain. Proper E que e: If you're proba ng a club the meaning and proper display of approved patches will be taught to you. Never ever try wearing a 3 piece (Top and Bo om Rockers with a Center Patch) especially with an MC Cube unless you are a member of an MC which has been accepted and allowed to exist by the areas dominant 1% MC unless you're ready for that Club to consider and treat you as having made a publicly disrespec ul declara on of war against them. Never wear a Bo om Rocker, which shows the name of a loca on (especially the full name of a state) unless you belong to the MC, which controls that territory. Wearing that Rocker tells everyone that you are claiming control of that territory. Absolutely never touch any part of any vest with a 3 piece. Look… Just don't touch it. You don't have a reason to touch it. If you do in error, than it is an error, apologize like the good Chris an that you are. Editor's Note: The above informa on is for 'knowledge'. Please read and share with your organiza on. If you are a Born Again Chris an the Gospel is your first Priority. Your purpose is to let others know about God and His Son that sets everyone free. So please, don't let pride get in the way of being the only image of Jesus some will ever see.
