I quickly realized that I had not necessarily received the gi of leadership. Nevertheless, since becoming a Chris an, I have been a leader and done so by surrounding myself with strong, capable leaders (mentors). I listened to a message recently, by Pastor Rick Warren, who emphasized the importance of small groups and mes of fellowship (i.e. interac on) with others; learning from them and allowing them to pray for and li me up. I have learned, "The Lord upholds all who fall and li s up all who are bowed down." (Psalm 145:14 NIV) Leadership begins with our humility and sub- mission to others. God in His mercy li ed this broken vessel and restored me …again. I found myself in leadership as a chapter president in Black Sheep. The transi on from member to leader wasn't instantaneous, but rather a journey where God gently spoke to my heart and un- veiled layers of brokenness I had kept hidden. In the midst of the pain, I came to acknowledge my weakness and my natural ins nct to be everything to everyone. I had to learn how to allow the Holy Spirit to lead through me. In ministry, you're going to get hurt! You're going to get red and you're going to feel unappreciated, but remember this: GOD appreci- ates you! GOD values your service! GOD sees all of the me, energy and effort you have invested in the ministry. He does not forget the tears you've cried, the frustra on you've endured or the hours you've invested. Not only does He not forget, He sees your service as an expression of love for Him. I guarantee you this: GOD values, loves and appreciates you more than you will ever know. Rest in that!
