BSHDFC E-Mag December 2018 | Page 3 By now we have all heard about the worst forest fires in California history, where flames swept through the small town of Paradise, CA just east of Chico. Five homes belonging to members of Black Sheep HDFC were totally destroyed along with many others. To date, 86 people have lost their lives, 500 are s ll missing and 13,000 homes have been lost. Black Sheep and members of HOG have raised over $16,000 for fire vic ms. While $16,000 will not rebuild anyone's home, it has been helpful in helping families with the immediate necessi es of food, shelter and clothes. We are very proud of Chris Picke [photo], one of the local fire chiefs and a member of the Chico Black Sheep. Thank-you to everyone who has par cipated in this worthy effort. You can s ll donate to the families of Paradise by making a dona on at BlackSheepHDFC.org – but you must designate the gi as "paradise." People o en say, "I'm not good at sharing with others. I wouldn't know what to say." Well, let's start with this: We have been given the awesome technology of the worldwide web! Black Sheep works very hard to produce this e-Magazine, a top notch website, a weekly Facebook Live program, and a monthly Podcast while also maintaining a very ac ve Twi er account. All you have to do is SHARE what we have already created on your behalf. If you watch a Facebook program….share it! If you listen to a podcast….share it! At the p of your finger you have the power to share your ONE program or tweet or magazine with dozens of your friends, rela ves and acquaintances. Mul ply that by the number of friends and members we have and the possibili es are endless. Black Sheep recently "promoted" a Facebook Live program throughout Mexico. It cost us $25 and we reached an addi onal 30,000 viewers! Is this YOUR ministry or are you simply a passive observer? If you call yourself a FIRE IN PARADISE Black Sheep become that silent force that passes the message on! Keep it going! It's easy, it costs nothing and it takes seconds! There are currently five new riders in Brisbane, Australia going through the mentorship process to become Black Sheep. Because of this, for the first me in years, many other riders are coming forward and asking about membership, says Australia regional director, David Leth (photo) Laz Alba (BSHDFC Director of Hispanic Ministries) con nues to work with members in Mexico and Spanish speaking America. Social media such as this eMag, Twi er and Face Book have proven themselves to be highly effec ve ways of introducing the ministry globally. For instance, a recent promo on of a Facebook Live, sent the program to the Mexico Face Book market where 30,000 people watched (at least part) of the publica on. Office staff member Annie Ducke con nues to oversee our mul -media efforts and is doing a great job! A er years of mee ng for an annual conference, BSHDFC has chosen in 2019 to host several "zone rallies" across the country in celebra on of their 20th anniversary. The next ILS (Interna onal Leadership Summit) will be in 2020. Confirmed dates and loca ons include: July 11-14 Wenatchee, WA, Aug 8-10 Har ord, CT and Sept 27-29 Durango, CO. Pending dates July 5-7 in Illinois and Sept 20-22 in Bishop, CA. We are also expec ng a sixth event to take place in Branson, MO, but are wai ng for those dates to be announced.
