"Payroll costs are our #1 line item followed by healthcare costs, so we must invest in the wellness of our people. Our people are our most valuable asset, so when we invest in them, we're ultimately investing in our company," he said. "Happy, healthy employees are better employees and that makes us a better company." "Studies show that healthier, happier employees can be over 50% more productive during the day," states Dave Drap, President of AD HR service provider Wellness IQ, which helps AD members Tim Arenberg President Columbia Pipe & Supply Co. develop a wellness program suitable for their employees. Drap explained Wellness IQ's offerings, saying that "users can partake in a range of different health-related exercises – from tracking their sleep or spending more time outdoors to making better nutritional choices, reviewing their college savings plan, and many more – for different rewards." This incentive model is what Drap believes makes the wellness program a success. "Without an incentive, people won't necessarily make changes, but once they try the program, they like the results, so we can help a company structure its incentive plan. Wellness IQ can help companies make a positive culture change." Columbia Pipe & Supply's Arenberg couldn't agree more. "You can't say that people are your most valuable asset without being willing to encourage them to be in the best possible health to help optimize their contribution," he said. "This wellness program is all about engagement with our people regarding their health and we're very happy that we brought them into our organization; employee engagement is increasing and Wellness IQ works with us to develop ways to encourage others to join in."
