BSHDFC E-Mag October 2018 | Page 7 dealership is even adver sing for the biker church on their website and Facebook page. A few nights a er the giveaway, there was a Rose City HOG mee ng, which we're part of. It was a packed house and Rod was asked to come up and share about winning. He explained how we prayed beforehand and had promised the money from the bike would go to various chari es if we won. He said he knew God had allowed this to happen. There was loud applause when he finished. Other things have happened since the giveaway. One HOG member that we've been friendly with asked Rod why we don't pray as a group before rides together. Rod said he didn't want to push anything on people. But this man said, "Well, I'd like it if you could lead us in prayer before rides. I'm going to bring it up at the HOG mee ng." There are so many other, small stories about individuals whose lives have been influenced by what has happened there recently. Giving away this bike isn't just about the money. It has shown everyone, from the people who work at the dealership day in and day out to the HOG members, someone who loves Jesus and loves them. Rod is being salt and light and also being a friend. The bike was never ours from the get-go. God made it crystal clear it was His. The money has been a tool to make God known—not just for the various chari es that the money is going to, but also for those watching and being a part of the giveaway. It seems as if the impact of Rod winning the bike, and being obedient to give it away, was as valuable as the money itself. It was incredibly fun to watch and be a part of. And another thing happened: Rod was at a bike night in Gladstone, where hundreds of people gathered to see their bikes, eat, listen to music, buy Harley stuff, and visit. A motorcycle re dealer was there and the big raffle prize was a new set of motorcycle res. Rod was just talking to some guys about how he had another month or two le on his res and would need a new set. I'm sure you know what's coming, but Rod's name was called and he won. He didn't even hear his name; but everyone else did! So that could be the end of the story—sweet, Rod won some res he needed. But it's making us think....why? It could just be that God loves Rod and is gi ing him with the res. We're sure that's part of it. But there's more. We're certain. People are now coming up to Rod and literally rubbing his belly hoping for luck. He's having amazing opportuni es to explain that it's not luck. He brings up the omnipotence of God and a verse we never thought to memorize: "We may throw the dice, but the Lord determines how they fall" (Proverbs 16:33). He tells them how God is present in every detail of our lives. We're praying daily for God to bring opportuni es to share the Lord with people. To sum it up: when we have seen God's hand so clearly, and know He had a plan for those funds, well, it is just plain exci ng! Which would we rather have: a 2018 Harley Fat Bob which will literally deteriorate and rust, even if we never rode it, OR the chance to have front-row seats as we pray over that money and watch what miraculous, life-changing, heart-so ening, eye- opening, soul-sha ering things God can do for His eternal glory? You know what we chose. Joyfully, and happily, with no second guessing or hesita on. We are blessed! Note: Rod Meyer is the Regional Director of BSHDFC in the state of Oregon. Marty Edwards The Apostle Paul gave us a great illustra on: "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? [Therefore] Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer bea ng the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that a er I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. (1Cor 9:24-27) The ministry of Black Sheep HDFC is kind of like a race; there is an effort, there is a sacrifice, there is a lot of work – and there is a PRIZE – the souls of men and women. This is the scripture that came to my mind when I read Diane's story about her husband winning a brand new Harley. Amazing! All of us are in one kind of race or another – for too many it's just a rat race – get a job, buy a house – pay the bills – save for re rement – then die. For others, we're not just RUNNING the race, we're out to WIN THE RACE. We're not simply punching the air, we want to deal the devil a death blow! We're not looking for "a a' boys" and plas c trophies. We're looking to change the popula on of heaven. We bring the GOSPEL of Christ! My extreme respect and love to all of you who get this; who recognize the contest we are in and the people who are at stake! Thank-you for every mile, every boot shine, every hour and every effort you have given to this race! Let's Win this Race!
